The Art of Boudoir Photography
The Art of Boudoir Photography | Fine Art Film Photography: Boudoir photography is all about embracing your femininity, feeling beautiful and loving yourself as you are. It is a genre that can slip into the cheap and vulgar, so I am always careful to approach it with class and sophistication, maybe because I am a woman.
Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is beautiful. — Sophia Loren
Boudoir photography is a way to take time to celebrate life, your life, a spa day for your soul. Life can be hard at times and it can take you down. Think of the session as a make- over and pamper yourself with professional hair and make-up. Buy two or three boudoir outfits, play dress-up and feel glamourous.
I like to photograph boudoir sessions in the comfort of the client’s home. That way she’s more relaxed and feels comfortable. Some women prefer to rent a hotel room or suite. For example, in San Diego, I love the Ranchos Santa Fe Inn or even the Fairmont. You might have a preferred location in mind already.
The important thing is that we have good light. I schedule a pre-shooting meeting to get to you know you first, so that we can discuss where you would like to have your session and what to wear as I help design your boudoir day. If you decide to have your boudoir shoot at home, I would like to meet you at your house so I can get a feel for the light and help you decide on the best time of day. I have a list of favorite make-up artists and hair stylists and will be happy to connect you with them. Together we’ll design a classy and sophisticated boudoir shoot.
The Art of Boudoir sessions are for every age. I truly believe beauty is inside every woman in every stage of life. Together we will pull it out.
“What could be more beautiful than a dear old lady growing wise with age. Every age can be enchanting.” — Brigette Bardot
Besides a fun day for yourself or a make-over, a boudoir shoot can be a nice surprise gift for your husband or fiancé. How about a Valentine’s gift? You can have beautiful prints made in a Luxe folio or create a boudoir album. I’ll be happy to show you various ways of displaying your images. I am all about printing heirloom quality portraits, using film, rather than digital photography. The photographs are exquisite, printed and framed on fine art papers. I like to say, an image in not a photograph until it is printed.
