Part 2 of Sofia & Kevin’s Santorini destination wedding photography session – Newly Weds
After Sofia & Kevin’s wedding ceremony at Santorini’s Andronis Luxury Suites, we went around the magical island for their newly wed portraits. For our first part, we went to Ammoudi Bay. I had scouted the Island before their big day and fell in love this part Santorini and it was close their hotel. We rented a car and had them take us to the bay. It is walkable but not ideal bridal clothes and high heels. Sofia also had mentioned that she wanted some photos with the characteristic donkeys. Well, I found out that the donkeys can be a bit wild, so we didn’t get too close.
Santorini offers a lot of amazing and different backdrops. Ammoudi Bay was one of them. Sofia also mentioned that she wanted to some shots close to the water so this was a good option.
Amoundi Bay
Amoundi is an old fishing port. The harbor is still used today and filled with beautiful fishing boats.
What I really love about Amoudi Bay is the beautiful red volcanic rock and cliffs. From below as you look up (a snail-eye view),you can see Oia’s white washed houses dotted with the blue cupolas. The deep greens and blues of the Mediterranean Sea are simply stunning.
We walked along the path and found some rocks with the waves crashing against them. The red rock behind stunning. All very scenic backdrops especially for newly wed Santorini wedding photography. You can walk quite a bit along the path.
(Santorini Travel tip)
Not that we had time to eat during the wedding photographs, but the day before when I was scouting locations, I walked but down & up the path (214 steps each way). I stopped for lunch at one of the taverns and had the best octopus. Sofia and Kevin went there the day after their wedding day for a romantic sunset dinner. The food is just divine. Well, all Greek food is delicious with their olive oil, feta cheese, and specialty dishes.
