A Magical Santorini Elopement

Part 3 of Sofia and Kevin’s: Santorini Wedding Elopement

Sofia and Kevin enchanting Elopement in Santorini and their newly wed portrait photography around  the Island at sunset. After their ceremony and newly wed walk around Amoundi, we headed towards the center of Oia. The sun was setting, and the light was simply magical.

Since light is so intense around Santorini. It bounces off all the white washed walls, so we planned to have the main newly wed portraits towards the late afternoon for a softer light.

From Sofia, the bride “My favorite part of the day was exploring Santorini and taking photographs. Aside from our vows, it was my favorite part of the day.” The simplicity of what wore help blend the newly weds with the environment, which I adore. I find destination photographs have so much more depth when the culture and natural environment is incorporated into the images.

“I went with a similar theme and got the Theia “Daria” dress which was quite fitted, had a beautiful back detail, and a long train” stated Sofia.

Sofia’s destination elopement inspiration came from  the neutral colors of Santorini. You see a lot of white and blue but then there’s the occasional pop of bright pink flowers or a red or green door. Sofia chose an ivory dress and white pants and tan link jacket for Kevin. Sofia wanted a Grecian, flowing dress that felt natural amongst the scenery. She loves all things rustic but still preserves the elegance and chicness.

Details and Bouquet

Sofia loved her bouquet and brought it along for some of her newly wed photographs. She wanted flowers that were natural to the region, and neutral in color. White, blush pink, light green and a bit of pale yellow were the colors of her bouquet.

Advice for Brides planning a destination elopement

To help prepare for your destination elopement, Sofia says it ‘s hard to plan for a destination elopement so try to be flexible before arrival. You will have an incredibly special day even if not everything goes 100% as planned. Focus on the union and the significance of the day, rather than the tiny details that you won’t remember a year or even a week late.
