From Norway, they eloped to ROME
Charlotte and Ruben, both from Norway, had a destination Rome elopement. Just the two of them with their two best friends who were also their witnesses. They met a few years ago when they were walking their dogs at a park. He proposed in the Austrian Alps on his 30th birthday. Pretty cool self-birthday present right?! Who would expect that?
They are both adventurous, and both love good food, cooking, travel, and wine tasting so when they decided where to get married, Rome was a great choice. The Roman warm weather (especially for Norwegians), the art, the ease to get married in Rome all were excellent reasons to say I do in Italy.
CIVIL WEDDING CEREMONY at CARACALLA
They had a civil ceremony at Vignola Mattei Caracalla, which is one of the three city halls to get married in Rome. It is right in the center of Ancient Rome close to the Colosseum and the ruins of the Baths of Caracalla. The building is an ex-convent, and the old brick walls together with the red chairs give a romantic, yet rustic feel to it. It’s surrounded by a beautiful park with lots of trees. It can fit about 25-40 people and perfect for smaller ceremonies. Wedding ceremonies should be booked a good six months in advance as it is a very popular for destination weddings in Rome.
FIAT 500 around Rome
Charlotte & Ruben rented the cutest yellow Fiat500 which came to pick her up at her and then brought her to the city hall where Ruben was waiting for her. After the ceremony, we went to Ancient Rome for some newly wed photographs. I, the Photographer sat in the front. It was a bit tight but super fun while we had a driver take us all around Rome. I have to admit it was the cutest prop!
They wanted some newly wed photographs at the Colosseum which is, of course, the emblem of Rome. After which we went around to a few off the beaten path locations to avoid the crowds since they wanted more quiet spots which are actually my favorite. Yes, I do love the ancient monuments, but Rome has so many hidden jewels with no one around. So I love it when couples ask me to bring them to secret hideaways around Rome!
With the help of a Wedding Planner
Charlotte & Ruben had a Norwegian wedding planner who lives in Rome to help with all the paper work and all the other details like renting the gorgeous Fiat 500, florals, makeup and hair. That was smart as all Charlotte & Ruben had to do was to enjoy their day!
