SHOULD YOU ELOPE?

I was recently asked this question: "My fiancé is hesitant to elope. How can I convince him?”

I am often asked similar questions, when clients reach out to me. One of them might want to elope; the other isn’t so sure.

I tell them to sit down and discuss the options before deciding if an elopement is really the right wedding for them.

To help solve the problem, I created a workbook called "Should You Elope?" which asks a series of questions. Each partner answers all the questions separately, easing the way to a solution. For a good elopement experience, both partners need to be on board.

If you’re wondering if eloping is the way to go, the questionnaire will help you both decide.

And if you’ve already decided on eloping, the questionnaire will start you thinking about your plans. You and your fiance' might sit down together with a glass of wine, cappuccino or tea. You’ll need at least an hour to complete all the questions.. Maybe make it a date-night activity or a Sunday morning project.

You can do it together on you computer or device. But it’s even better to just print out two copies and fill them out separately, then compare your answers. You’ll both have fun and you might even discover some things about each other you didn’t know before.

Here's a sample of some of the questions in the questionnaire

• What are your favorite things to do together in your free time?
• Do you like adventure? Romance? Culture?
• Where have you travelled?
• What are some of your dream destinations?
• Do you want to elope alone or invite a few family and friends?
• How will you spread the news?
• Why do you want to elope?

These are just a few of the more than fifty questions in the workbook, designed to help you clarify your thoughts. Make it even more fun by adding photos personalize it and keep it as a keepsake.

If you answer all the questions honestly, you’ll be well on your way with your plans and the details you choose for your wedding will be more meaningful, because they’ll personal, unique to you as a couple.
