When Jennifer and Jack decided to get married, they wanted a destination wedding somewhere magical and decided on a Capri elopement. Both in their 30s, they wanted a more intimate wedding, so an elopement just made sense. They both love the beach and always wanted to get married on or by the beach.
After they decided to elope, they decided on Italy… not only does it provide amazing beaches, but also has so many other amazing cities to visit for the honeymoon.
How They Personalized their Capri Elopement
The bride wore her mother-in-law’s original engagement ring, a gold band inscribed with the letter “S” on her right pinky finger and brought along her dad’s blue tie and wrapped it around her bouquet for her something old and something blue. The bride’s father was unable to make the trip to Italy so this was extra special. She also picked several songs of importance to the couple for the string quartet to play before the ceremony such as “New York, New York” (the last city the bride and groom lived in before moving to the Carolinas) and The Game of Thrones theme (the couple’s favorite show). The couple also enjoyed a boat ride after the ceremony and pictures to unwind from the day’s activities while exploring Capri from the water. It was the highlight of the day, especially viewing the hotel where the couple was just married from the water.
Their Capri Elopement Favorite Details
The bride loved the olive branches added into the bridal bouquet, something local from the area. We also loved riding around in the Capri taxis, especially the red convertible. I’m not sure if there was anything better than the response from the people of Capri as we walked through the streets and people greeted us and literally stood and cheered as we walked through the main square. We loved that the photographer knew the area and spent her summers there growing up. She was able to take us around to all the hot spots around the island for pictures before our boat ride.
Theme Behind Their Intimate Wedding
The overall theme for the wedding was a beach theme. We were married at the Hotel Caesar Augustus on a cliff in Anacapri overlooking the Naples coast. We enjoyed appetizers directly after the ceremony from the ocean such as fresh octopus, tuna tartare, and oysters. We took a boat ride around the island of Capri enjoying the fresh ocean air and relaxing from all the stress of the day. We took pictures on the beach and by the fisherman’s boats before heading back to our hotel for a 7 course dinner on a private balcony overlooking the ocean.
