10 WAYS TO FEEL AND LOOK FABULOUS ON YOUR ELOPEMENT

Do you want to know how to feel fabulous on your wedding day? In this blog post, I'll share 10 ways to make you not only feel great but also look great!

So much time and effort has gone into preparing for your destination elopement. All the planning, — choosing your gown and flowers, the location, the date — and now it’s right around the corner.

All the exterior details are important but nothing will go well unless you feel great on your big day.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a big advocate for good health and taking care of yourself will greatly improve your energy level and how you look.

My parents moved to Italy and introduced the health spa concept to Europe way back when. They were the pioneers is the health club business. As a family, we ran every day and stuck to a vegetarian diet. Junk food was almost as bad as drugs. In our house, there were no processed foods, no sugar, and we were all super healthy. None of us ever got sick.

Health is still important to me and I run, do yoga daily, I’m very careful about what I eat. Because I like to feel good. Before getting a fine arts degree, I completed an associates degree in nutrition degree.

HERE'S HOW TO FEEL FABULOUS ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

  • If you’re having a destination wedding, you’ll want to arrive at least a few days beforehand to get over jet-lag, get acquainted with the area and settle in.
  • Avoid the sun. (Tanned skin looks bad in photographs.) You don’t want suntan lines or an orangey skin tone.
  • A day or so before, when you might be meeting with your wedding, team, and especially your photographer, pamper yourself. Get a massage a manicure/pedicure and have a trial makeup done. You don’t want to wait until your wedding day to get made up. You’ll want to be sure the makeup is just the way you want it.
  • Don’t go drinking the night before. Nothing does more to ruin your appearance than a hangover and no amount of makeup will conceal that haggard look and dark circles. You’ll have a headache, cotton brain, and you’ll be dehydrated. If you pick only one suggestion from this list, pick this one.

  • The day of the elopement, be sure to drink lots of water with lemon. The water will you hydrated, so your skin like fresh and your eyes will be clear, and the lemon is alkaline, which gives you a energy. You’ll be moving around a lot, so you’ll need plenty of liquids, especially if you plan a summer wedding or a tropical destination. Start drinking water early in the morning then stop about an hour before the ceremony. All the adrenaline and water will build up and the last thing you want is to have to go to the bathroom when you’re standing at the altar.
  • Eat lightly and try to get some protein early on for energy. Carbs will just make you drowsy. Avoid salty food, which will make you bloated
  • If you can do a yoga session or take a few minutes to stretch first thing in the morning. It will center your body, make you more mindful and calm you down. And it will help you control that nervous breathing, as well.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy your day and enjoy the process of getting ready, in slow, relaxed way. You don’t want to feel rushed.
  • Break in your wedding shoes ahead of time, and think about carrying a backup pair of comfy shoes for walking around. This applies to the guys. There’s nothing worse than suffering the pain of blisters on your wedding day, when you’ll want to keep smiling.
  • If possible, spend the day, unplugged. Leave your cell phone in your hotel room. Be fully present at your own elopement.
