TUSCANY WEDDING AT BORGO SCOPETO
Sasha & Robert fell in love with Italy from their very first visit. They knew their family and friends would like it too. Sasha is from Belarus and Robert is from Sweden, and both currently live in Switzerland. Most of their guests would have had to travel to their wedding regardless. So they knew Italy would be the perfect spot for your Tuscany destination Wedding.
Robert loves wine and Sasha was excited that he wanted to be part of the planning. They both ended up taking a few trips to Italy to plan. The whole year was full of exciting adventures.
How Sasha and Robert Personalized their Wedding Day
Sasha incorporated many traditions. For example, in Sweden when the bride gets up from the table to go to the restroom during the wedding dinner, all the women have to run and kiss the groom on the cheek. The same when the groom goes to the restroom. It was hilarious seeing all the guests getting up and running.
Many songs both in Russian and Swedish were played and sung during the wedding dinner as well (songs that involved kissing, climbing under the table, standing on chairs – oh so much fun).
With all the games and fun, they ended up cutting the cake around 1:30 am.
They had signature drinks. Sasha’s was a Minsk Mule which was a play on the Moscow Mule. And next to the drink we had beautiful Matreshka dolls from Belarus. Robert’s drink was a Vargtass which was a mix with vodka and lingonberry syrup – very Swedish!
Both wanted a little piece of each of their countries in the wedding.
Favorite Wedding details
Bride and Groom loved every single detail. The flower girl had matching mini shoes like Sashas, and her flower crown also had the same flowers that were in the bouquet.
Her bouquet was stunning along with all the flowers arrangements and the table set up. The street light laps were a beautiful touch which did not take away from the gorgeous view of Siena in the background.
The bridal party all looked incredible as well in their soft pink dresses.
The food and wine were delicious, and they particularly loved the detail of having our red wax seal and calligraphy with every guest’s name on the menu – which matched our invitations. The cake was stunning and tasted incredible, and we had it served the next day with coffee for our guests! Having sparklers during their first dance was so romantic as well. The day and night were perfect. And of course all of the people who worked so hard to make our day special.
Their Under the Tuscan Sun engagement the day before was uber fun  ending with pre-wedding barbeque with all their guests.
The inspiration behind the day?
Sasha and Robert’s theme for the wedding were to make the setting beautiful and elegant, but not take away from the natural scenery. Since they do not see our friends and family so often because of where they live – so to have everyone together was fabulous. The theme of the day I suppose was for an elegant occasion, formal clothing, excellent venue but the most important was relaxing and having the best time celebrating all together and dancing the night away.
A bit about the venue
The bride and groom fell in love with the Relais right away. It is historic, romantic and the service was incredible. They made use of all areas of the Borgo Scopeto  for our events which were also excellent and versatile. All the guests stayed at the Relais.
Advice for brides
Sasha’s advice is to hire and trust your wedding planner. They know the best places, vendors, venues, and in many cases the language and culture! Communication is essential when planning from so far away. Destination weddings are stressful to plan and organize but most magical. Choose an epic location where all or most of your guests can stay. This way they get to interact with each other throughout the day. Work hard to accommodate your guests before the wedding and once the day arrives and everyone is together – just enjoy every moment! And have a great photographer and videographer to capture it all. 🙂
