SIMPLY ELOPE | Destination Elopement at La Badia | Orvieto, Italy
When you’re a romantic at heart (like myself, lol) there are some places that just tug a your heartstrings… a lot! Italy is definitely one of those places and when you see a couple, like Christie and Darren, celebrating their love in such a romantic place, you can’t help but feel the warm and fuzzies!

Springtime is amidst here in Italy and on this gorgeous, blue-skied day, perched on a hilltop is the quaint town of Orvieto. This romantic Italian elopement took place at the 6th Century Abbey, La Badia. Christie and Darren shared their special day in this old-world city known for being one of the most dramatic throughout Europe.
Surrounded by beautiful ruins this destination wedding captured a mix of antique buildings, roads, and luscious hillsides. Christie wore a timeless gown, simple yet elegant. Darren suited up in gray. Her bouquet included sweet pastels of light pinks, purples, and blues which all tied together to make the perfect combination for the charming hilltop town.
A truly authentic element is found on the bride’s veil. Christie, the bride, had a beautiful vision to honor her mother in law whom recently passed and with the permission of her soon to be husband, Darren, she trimmed the bottom portion of lace from her mother-in-laws wedding gown to use at the rim of her veil. Captured throughout the photo shoot the veil creates a graceful focal point.
It meant a lot to the couple to bring these elements into their special day as each detail had a meaningful representation. When Darren and Christie met for their “first look” he had an unforgettable expression of adoration on his face for his bride to be. This moment brought many waves of emotions and excitement.
Christie said she had never felt or experienced anything comparable before…that feeling of pure happiness. Orvieto remains a destination with a lasting memory in their hearts…
