A “Roman Holiday”Elopement alla Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck
Today let’s run away to the most beautiful city in the world “ROMA” for a glamorous Rome elopement inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s classic film “Roman Holiday” filmed in the eternal city back in 1953 – also known as the great era when “La Dolce Vita” began.
Tarja and Heikki are both Finnish and wanted to have a theme for their Rome elopement. She loved Audrey Hepburn and the classic film which tells the story of a runaway Princess who falls in love in the Eternal City.
(Yes, it happens all the time. Rome is filled with romance and falling in love is an almost a given – or falling more in love – if you already have someone).
Rome is all about love and perfect for a romantic getaway.
Tarja and Heikki met while way back while both had enrolled at a poetry club in Finland.
They had vacationed in Rome, and both fell in love with the city, so they decided to have an Italian destination wedding. When they decided where to elope, Rome felt the perfect place.
After having their civil ceremony in a town hall in Rome, the couple rented a vintage Vespa, and ventured around Rome and recreated the romantic beauty of Roman Holiday.
Tarja’s beautiful gown by Tomy Mariage was a perfect style, and she really did look like Audrey Hepburn. Her red Minna Parikka shoes added a touch of color matching her lipstick.
(Red, is the perfect color for Rome by the way).
Heikki instead played Gregory Peck in his handsome suit.
Along with their Rome elopement itinerary, we stopped for a bride make-up touch up with a vintage 500 fiat and then with the Vespa drove around the Colosseum. We also ventured off to some to lesser-known touristy areas or off the beaten path locations.
Most of all we had tons of fun!
As the saying goes “When in Rome, do as the Romans do…”
Below are a few highlights of their newly wed portraits around Roma.
