Christie and Darren shared their intimate elopement on the hilltop town of Orvieto in Umbria, Italy. This destination wedding captures a quaint antique town. Surrounded by rolling hills and olive tree vineyards this picturesque city was the ideal destination for an elopement. The couple stayed at the chic boutique hotel, “La Badia di Orvieto.” The hotel was once a monastery with origins dating back from the 6th century.
Prior to the ceremony, the couple met at La Badia di Orvieto to share their “first look.” Christie wore a timeless gown, simple yet elegant. Darren suited up in gray. As she approached him in the rustic courtyard the anticipation built. When they turned to each other waves of emotions poured out. Christie said she had never felt or experienced any feeling comparable before. That feeling of pure happiness. He had an unforgettable expression of adoration on his face for his bride to be. A truly authentic element to this elopement is found on the brides veil. Christie had a beautiful vision to honor her mother in law whom recently passed. Using lace from her mother- in laws bridal gown she incorporated the piece onto the rim of her veil. Captured on film, the veil created a graceful focal point.Whilst on the hilltop we wandered through the cobblestone streets. Strolling around the old-world city we stumbled across the “Duomo di Orvieto.” The stunning Cathedral boasted with gothic architecture and glittering mosaics. It made for a gorgeous backdrop.
