If you’re planning to elope in Positano or the Amalfi Coast, the best time of year to do so is in May and June or from mid-September to the end of October.

The weather is warm and sunny during these months, and the crowds are more manageable. The summer months of July and August can be incredibly hot and busy, making it counterproductive for elopements, where you want a more intimate and secluded experience. In addition, the high season can be more expensive, and challenging to secure your preferred vendors and locations.

By eloping in the mid-season, you can take advantage of more flexible options and fewer tourists, ensuring that your special day is everything you want.

If you’re thinking of eloping in Positano, here are suggestions:

1. Choose Your Wedding Date

Positano is a popular destination for weddings, so booking in advance is essential to secure your preferred date. The best time to elope in Positano is in the Spring or Autumn season when the weather is warm and sunny. As mentioned above, if you’re thinking of the summer remember that its peak tourist season so be prepared for crowds. If you prefer a more private and intimate experience, consider eloping in the off-season.

2. Hire a Wedding Planner

This is a destination where you want to consider hiring a wedding planner to ensure your elopement in Positano goes smoothly if you want something done well without stress. A professional wedding planner can take care of all the details, including venue selection, vendor management, and day-of coordination. They can also help you navigate the legal requirements of getting married in Italy.

3. Find Your Wedding Venue

Positano has many stunning venues, each with a unique charm and personality. Whether you want a seaside ceremony, a cliffside view, or a garden reception, you’ll find the perfect venue to suit your style. Some popular options include Hotel Palazzo Murat, Villa Treville, and San Pietro.

4. Plan Your Positano Elopement Wedding Ceremony

Positano offers several types of ceremonies, depending on your preference and background. One of the most popular ceremonies is the symbolic ceremony, which is perfect for couples who want to personalize their vows and create a unique experience. This type of ceremony has no legal binding, so couples can have their ceremony anywhere, from a stunning cliffside to a serene beach.

You can opt for a civil ceremony at the Positano City Hall if you prefer a legal one. The Positano City Hall offers an elegant and picturesque setting for your ceremony, with breathtaking views of the sea and the town. A civil ceremony requires legal documentation and may involve additional fees, so it’s essential to consult with a wedding planner or local authorities to ensure that you meet all the requirements.

For couples looking for a religious ceremony, the Maria Assunta church or other churches in Positano offer a beautiful and traditional setting for your wedding. These churches offer a range of religious ceremonies, such as Catholic or Protestant ceremonies, and require some preparation in advance, such as premarital counseling and meeting with the local priest.

No matter what type of ceremony you choose, Positano’s beauty and charm provide the perfect backdrop for your special day. Whether you’re looking for a symbolic ceremony, a civil ceremony at the City Hall, or a religious ceremony at one of the town’s stunning churches, Positano has everything you need to make your elopement a truly unforgettable experience.

By choosing a wedding planner who knows the area, they will be able to guide you in the right direction and help you organize something tailored to your Positano Elopement.

6. Celebrate Your Elopement with an intimate dinner for two

After your ceremony, it’s time to celebrate your love. Positano has many excellent restaurants, bars, and cafes to choose from. We highly suggest having a  private dining experience, such as a candlelit dinner on the beach or a sunset yacht cruise. Whatever you choose, make sure to have a local prosecco to celebrate!

7. Getting to Positano:

If you’re arriving from the States or other distant destinations, it might be more convenient to fly into Rome and take a train to Naples to get to Positano. Rome has a larger airport with more international flights and better safety records, making it a more popular choice for travelers. Once you arrive in Rome, you can either stay a night or two and enjoy the eternal city or take a high-speed train to Naples, which takes approximately 1 hour and then arrange for a private driver to take you to Positano. This option offers a stress-free and comfortable journey, with scenic views of the Italian countryside and the sea. With a little planning and research, you can make your trip to Positano a seamless and enjoyable experience.

If you’re looking for a more romantic and adventurous way to get to Positano, you can opt for a private boat transfer from Naples or other nearby towns, such as Amalfi or Capri. A private boat transfer offers a unique and breathtaking experience, allowing you to enjoy the Mediterranean Sea’s stunning coastline and crystal-clear waters.

No matter how you choose to get to Positano, it’s essential to plan your journey to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable experience. With a little bit of preparation and some help from a local wedding planner, you can get to Positano easily and start enjoying this picturesque town’s beautiful scenery and atmosphere.

8.  Wedding Planner or not?

When planning an elopement in Positano, hiring a wedding planner can make all the difference in creating the perfect elopement experience. A wedding planner who knows the region can help you navigate the various requirements, select the right vendors, and find the best venues and accommodations for your needs and preferences. They can also provide valuable insights and advice on local customs, traditions, and cultural practices to help you create a meaningful and authentic ceremony.

With a wedding planner, you can focus on enjoying your elopement while leaving the logistics and details to the experts. From organizing transportation and accommodation to arranging for flowers, music, and photography, a wedding planner can help you create a stress-free and memorable experience.

Overall, while it is possible to plan an elopement in Positano without a wedding planner, hiring one is highly recommended to ensure a flawless and unforgettable experience. A wedding planner who knows the region can help you create the perfect elopement that reflects your unique style and preferences while taking care of all the details to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable experience. My top three Positano Hotels:

When selecting a hotel for your luxury elopement in Positano, many exceptional options exist. Here are my top three picks, including the luxurious Hotel San Pietro, the iconic Hotel Sirenuse, and the elegant Hotel Treville:

  1. Hotel San Pietro: This magnificent hotel is located just outside of town and can be easily accessed by car or boat. It features a fabulous spa and several excellent restaurants, as well as a private beach. As the largest hotel in the region, Hotel San Pietro offers many amenities and services to ensure your elopement is unforgettable and comfortable. You can plan a romantic ceremony and reception in one of the hotel’s enchanting settings, such as the lush gardens or the sea-view terrace.
  2. Hotel Sirenuse: Situated in the heart of Positano, Hotel Sirenuse offers breathtaking views of the town and the sea. This iconic hotel is famous for its exceptional decor and has been featured in numerous films. With private beach access and a rooftop bar, Hotel Sirenuse is ideal for a stylish and romantic elopement. They do not allow ceremonies on their property, but another option would be to have a private suite and hold it there or have your ceremony at the city hall.
  3. Hotel Treville: Located in the heart of Positano, Hotel Treville is a stunning property that offers exceptional service, luxury amenities, and beautiful views of the Amalfi Coast. With its elegant and chic decor, Hotel Treville is a great option for couples seeking a sophisticated and intimate elopement. Treville can work with the hotel’s team to create a bespoke elopement package that suits your preferences and budget, whether you’re looking for a traditional ceremony or a contemporary celebration.

My top three Positano restaurants:

When it comes to dining in Positano, there are many excellent restaurants. Here are three of my personal favorites, including the authentic La Tagliata, the traditional Da Vincenzo, and the elegant Rada:

  1. La Tagliata: Located in the Montepertuso area above Positano, La Tagliata is a family-run restaurant that offers genuine homemade dishes. The restaurant makes olive oil, grows tomatoes and lemons, and serves only the freshest ingredients. The restaurant is built on terraces with stunning panoramic views, making it a great location for the ceremony.
  2. Da Vincenzo: This local and traditional restaurant is my favorite in Positano. It is situated inside the town and offers some of the best Italian cuisines. The restaurant is famous for its desserts, handcrafted by Marcella herself. Da Vincenzo is perfect for a romantic dinner for two.
  3. Rada: Right on the beach at the marina, Rada is an elegant restaurant with an adjoining disco. It features a refined atmosphere and is decorated with white and blue tiles. Rada is perfect for a reception, offering a great ambiance for a romantic and unforgettable experience. With the help of Treville, you can plan a stunning and intimate elopement that includes a reception at Rada, enjoying exquisite cuisine, and dancing the night away on the beach.

My favorite time of the year to elope to Positano:

Positano is a charming destination with a small village vibe that can get crowded in the summer months, which is why my favorite time of year to elope there is between April and June or mid-September to October. During these months, the weather is still pleasant, and the town is less crowded, making it the ideal time for a romantic and intimate elopement.

It’s essential to plan ahead when eloping in Positano, as it is a popular destination and can get booked up quickly. Unless you plan to rent a private villa away from the crowds, it’s best to avoid the months of July and August. During these months, the coast is packed with tourists, and the service may deteriorate due to the overwhelming number of visitors. Additionally, the weather can be sweltering, making it uncomfortable for outdoor elopement. By avoiding the high season, you’ll have a more personalized and comfortable experience, allowing you to create the perfect romantic elopement with your significant other.

Three extra ideas for your elopement:

If you want to elope in Positano, there are several ways to make your special day even more memorable. One great idea is to rent a boat available all along the coast. This is a wonderful way to capture some unique and stunning photos and enjoy the beauty of the Amalfi Coast from a different perspective. Renting a boat for a sunset tour can be particularly romantic and make for unforgettable memories.

  1. Arrange a private wine-tasting experience. The region is famous for its vineyards and wineries, and what better way to celebrate your elopement than with a private wine-tasting experience? Many of the wineries in the area offer private tastings where you can sample some of the best local wines and learn about the production process. This is a perfect opportunity to savor the region’s flavors and celebrate your love in an intimate and exclusive setting.
  2. Have a post-elopement newlywed excursion. Positano’s picturesque setting is perfect for capturing stunning photos. Consider scheduling a post-elopement photo shoot to take advantage of the stunning scenery and capture some romantic moments. There are many locations to choose from, including the beach, the winding streets of the town, and the terraced gardens. A post-elopement photo shoot is an excellent way to make memories and have a beautiful collection of photos to remember your special day for years to come.
  3. Rent a driver and car for a newlywed photo tour of other villages. While Positano is undoubtedly beautiful, the surrounding villages such as Amalfi and Ravello also offer stunning backdrops for photos. By renting a driver and car, you can easily explore these other locations and have a unique and memorable photo tour of the Amalfi Coast.
  4. Dance the night away at Rada – Music on the rocks. Rada is an elegant restaurant on the beach at the marina, which also features a disco. This is the perfect place to celebrate and dance the night after your elopement. The refined atmosphere, decorated with white and blue tiles, provides a beautiful backdrop for a reception. This is an excellent way to end your special day and create unforgettable memories.

2. Rent a driver and car for a newly wed photo tour of other villages. (Amalfi and Ravello both offer beautiful backdrops.)
