A ROMANTIC POSITANO ELOPEMENT

Amore in Amalfi Coast

From the Bride:
While Harsh and I have the same souls, we come from incredibly different cultures. Traditional Indian weddings consist of multiple events and ceremonies over the course of a week which seemed unnecessarily complicated and overwhelming to us. The thought of planning a new Christian ceremony combined with a traditional Sikh wedding quickly became overwhelming, so we decided to have an intimate ceremony with the most stunning backdrop.

Most importantly, we incorporated personalized vows into our Christian wedding ceremony, and hearing my husband’s vows was easily my favorite moment of the day. We also included some personal details ranging from our wedding monogram designed by our calligrapher, to hand dyed French silk ribbon for my bouquet, “Salute” drink stirrers, etc.

It was quite windy on the day of our wedding, and fortunately, the winds subsided just enough for us for our boat to depart that afternoon. We took off our shoes and sipped prosecco on the boat deck while cruising along the unbelievably gorgeous Amalfi coastline at sunset. It was a surreal experience, and my husband and I relished the opportunity to reflect on a momentous day.

When I stumbled across Villa, and I immediately knew that their phenomenal terrace would make the ideal backdrop for our wedding day. I gravitate toward neutral colors, and I planned our wedding theme around gold, cream, and blush. I wanted the day to include subtle nods to Italy without detracting from Positano’s natural beauty, so I added marble accents on the wedding announcements as well as olive branches in our floral arrangements.

My advice to other brides who are planning on having a destination wedding is to plan as much as you can in advance, while also focusing on the significance of the moment. So many brides become engulfed in the wedding planning process and allow their stress to detract from the significance of their marriage. International destination weddings involve language barriers amongst many other uncontrollable variables, and it is beneficial to work with vendors who speak the local language and are familiar with the wedding location. Destination brides must be flexible, consider back-up options, and when original plans go awry, laugh it off and realize that regardless of minor mishaps, it is a gift to marry the love of your life.
